Reception Decorations for a Caribbean Wedding
When you think about the Caribbean, you imagine tranquil seas, breathtaking views, wonderful sunsets, and a truly relaxing atmosphere. This is why, when you and your spouse have decided to go for a Caribbean themed wedding, you could not help but feel overly excited about the idea. However, something is holding you back, and it is that you do not have any idea on how to decorate a wedding reception with a Caribbean theme. Fret no more, these wondrous tips on reception favour ideas for your Caribbean wedding would surely be a great help.
The Caribbean Color Palette
Caribbean is all about natural settings so you would see many natural colors in this kind of palette. Blue and sea green that resembles the ocean; pinks, reds, and yellows that represent the sun and sky during sunset (or sunrise); brown and tan for the sand are just some of the various pretty colors you can incorporate into your wedding day. You may also use other festive shades such as turquoise blue, bright pink, deep purple, chocolate brown, and bright orange. Just remember that you do not have to use all of these colors. You only have to use a few that go well together and combine them to use for the reception decoration.
Tropical Flower Blooms
Bright and vibrant tropical blooms are a trademark of Caribbean weddings. Striking flowers such as hibiscus, amaryllis, anthuriums, orchids, roses, lilies, and bougainvillea are just some of the many options that you can use for the decorations in the reception. These flowers can be arranged as table centerpieces or be used to decorate arcs and pillars. They can also be used for bouquets, potted decorations, unique wedding favours, and accessories. These rich flowers can turn the wedding into one colorful event. Even if the setting is outdoor and there is already an abundance of greenery and foliage, the wedding would still look a lot nicer with these fabulous tropical blooms.
Other Exotic and Unique Decoration Ideas
- Decorate the place with palm trees. Real palm trees would be great but fake ones may do just as well if the budget does not permit. Place them at the entrance or next to the wedding arch.
- Create a hut of hay or a tiki hut to add a wonderful Caribbean touch to the event.
- Do not forget to lighten up the place with tiki torches at night.
- Decorate tables with sinamay or natural-fiber fabric table runners or covers.
- Use shell frames as table place card holders. These can double as wedding favors.
- Have a huge basket of tropical fruits as the buffet table centerpiece. Consider adding mini versions of it on the guests’ tables as centerpiece.
Many brides dream of having a Caribbean wedding but not everybody is lucky to end up with one. Do not waste this opportunity of a lifetime of having your dream wedding. Make sure that you do everything to turn this event the way it is supposed to be—memorable and special.
